Tip for setting up “Preview Themes” in MarsEdit for m.b standard themes.

Use the “Download Template” feature. It will initially pull the “still posting” generic page, then try it again in a couple mins and it will pull the real theme after the test post goes through.

Shortcuts Ep. 5

Siri Shortcuts - Episode 5

Shortcut Name: Save Safari URL to saved.io Bookmarking Service
Revision: 1.0
Add to Shortcuts!

What does it do?
This one came from an idea that @cm wanted to accomplish on their iPhone. The idea is to take a given Safari page, and send a link to the bookmarking service saved.io. The premise of the service is that you simply replace the http:// or https:// of the URL with https://saved.io/ and it adds it to your saved account.

How does it work?

  1. Use the share sheet to send the URL of the current webpage to the Shortcut.
  2. Then convert the URL to text.
  3. Use regex to find either http:// or https:// and replace with https://saved.io/
  4. Open the newly formatted URL in Safari.

The Sir Shortcuts widget that you put in the “Today View” is AMAZING!

It turns your Shortcuts into ‘mini apps’ with great UI and you never even have to go into the Shortcuts app.

Siri Shortcuts - Episode 4

Shortcut Name: Logging Water With HomePod
Revision: 1.0
Add to Shortcuts!

What does it do?
Since you can trigger Shortcuts using Siri, this extends to using your HomePod to execute Shortcuts without needing to touch your iPhone at all. This simple workflow allows me to say “Hey Siri, add 12 ounces of water” from anywhere in my house, and the Shortcut will log 12oz of water in HealthKit. If you want multiple values for quantity, you will need to setup a Shortcut for each quantity since you cannot currently have Siri prompt you within a Shortcut. This syncs with WaterMinder as well via HealthKit, which is cool!

How does it work?

  1. Log a health sample type of “water” and amount of 12oz.
  2. Outputs completion message of your choice.
make sure you setup the Siri phrase for this one if you want to trigger it with your HomePod
